Diani Beach is an approximately 25 kilometer long, gently sloping, white and fine sandy beach on the Indian Ocean in Kenya. It is located around 35 kilometers south of Mombasa. Diani Beach is the tourist center of the south coast.
In front of the beach are reefs that both keep the sharks away and break the waves of the sea. The reefs are popular diving areas.
Larger towns nearby are Ukunda with an airport for domestic flights and Msambweni. Diani Beach is located in the remains of the coastal Jadini Forest. This is home to the largest Kenyan population of Angola colobus monkeys. The Colobustrust conservation center provides information about their protection. Among other things, it builds rope ladder-like suspension bridges called "colobridges", which help the animals to cross roads safely.
