Sesfontein means nothing other than "six wells". This place contains six natural springs that form a lush oasis rising out of a barren landscape. Sesfontein is situated in the Hoanib Valley and is surrounded by mountains. It is a very beautiful town with acacia and mopane trees dotted with fan-shaped fan palms. The town provides a good base from which to explore the surrounding Kaokoveld. It is an old fort that was converted into a comfortable, atmospheric lodge at the end of the 19th century. With its location, it is an ideal base from which to explore the southern foothills of the Kaokoveld. Don't miss a trip to a local Himba village to learn about local customs and traditions, while observing how these communities live in peaceful coexistence with the wildlife and natural environment....
