Interests and activities
Upon arrival at Windhoek Airport, pick up your rental car and drive the short distance to Windhoek. After checking into your guesthouse, you can enjoy the rest of the day. Or you can explore the city center with its colonial-style buildings, street cafes and craft market.
In the morning, we drive into the largest desert in the world, the Kalahari Desert. The Bushmen call it the "soul of the world", a very emotional description of this area, with its deep red sand dunes and endless grasslands interspersed with acacia trees and shrubs. Only well-adapted creatures such as spikebuck, springbok and ostrich can survive here. Enjoy the opportunity to discover the fauna and flora in this area on an optional nature tour in the late afternoon.
Day 4:
Today you drive through endless plains and long mountain ranges into the Namib Desert, the oldest desert in the world. Your lodge is located close to two of Namibia's most famous sights: Sossusvlei, with some of the highest sand dunes on earth, and the Sesriem Canyon. You will visit both the next day.
Day 5:
Drive to the gate of the Namib Naukluft Park before sunrise. The best time to explore the Sossusvlei area is right at sunrise. The shades of color vary from pale yellow to bright reds and oranges. You can hike to the Dead Vlei and climb a dune at Sossusvlei. You then return to the park entrance. From here you can make a detour to the Sesriem Canyon, where the Tsauch River has carved a deep gorge into the sand, gravel and conglomerate layers of the Namib Rand over millions of years. The fascinating landscape offers countless photo opportunities. Afterwards you return to the lodge, where you can cool off in the swimming pool or enjoy a refreshing drink.
Today the drive takes you to Swakopmund, a small German-influenced coastal town situated on the edge of the oldest desert in the world and on the Atlantic Ocean. Visit the Welwitschia Area and the Moon Landscape (by permit only), two of the attractions on this scenic drive. In Swakopmund, you have the opportunity to take part in some adventurous activities. For example, a scenic flight, a boat trip with dolphins, quad biking, parasailing, sandboarding or even skydiving. Your accommodation is located within walking distance of the town center.
On the way to Damaraland, you will pass large lichen fields and travel past Namibia's highest mountain, the Brandberg, into Damaraland. You visit Twyfelfontein, a World Heritage Site with more than 2500 rock engravings - this area was the natural habitat of the Bushmen around 6000 years ago, as it was rich in water and therefore game. A visit to the Burnt Mountain and the Organ Pipes will show you another geological phenomenon that makes Damaraland so unique. A visit to a traditional Damara village will give you a good insight into how the inhabitants survived in this area thousands of years ago. At your lodge for the following night, you can take a short hike up the local mountain in the afternoon and enjoy the view of the surrounding plains with a drink at sunset (drink not included). Spend the afternoon at the pool overlooking the Ugab dry river terraces.
Day 9:
After breakfast, your journey continues to Etosha National Park. You arrive at your lodge in the late morning and have the opportunity to go on your first game drive in the Etosha National Park or simply enjoy the scenery at the lodge.
Day 10:
After breakfast, you will drive to the famous Etosha National Park, where you will spend the next two days in search of game. Your lodge is situated with an incredible view of the mopane plains and is only a few kilometers from the park entrance. Shortly before sunset, you will drive back to the lodge. You also have the option of booking game drives in open off-road vehicles in Etosha National Park.
Day 11:
Today you can go on another full-day game drive in Etosha National Park. No game drive is the same, the wildlife can always surprise you. Etosha National Park is like a fairytale land with its magical landscape and incredible animals. You come to various watering holes to watch the game gradually move to the watering hole, drink and look around attentively. Etosha National Park is one of the most important nature reserves in Africa. At the heart of the park lies the Etosha Pan, a 5,000 square kilometer depression with highly saline soil. These gray-white plains with their mirages and passing herds of game are an unforgettable experience for the visitor. We return to the lodge shortly before sunset.
In the morning you travel back south to the vicinity of Windhoek, where your guest farm is situated next to a dry riverbed in the majestic Otjihavera Mountains. The rest of the day is at leisure. Enjoy the afternoon by the pool or on the viewing platform. Various excursions are also on offer. Why not go on a nature tour or a short hike?
After a hearty breakfast, the journey continues back to Windhoek or on to the international airport, where the trip ends.
