Arrive at Hosea Kutako International Airport outside Windhoek. After you have completed your formalities at customs and passport control, you will proceed to the arrivals hall, where you will receive your fully equipped rental car. From here you continue to your accommodation in Windhoek, where you can stock up on provisions for the first few days. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Numerous fountains and large pedestrian zones with European-style street or garden cafés and beer gardens create a relaxing, cozy atmosphere. You can also visit the Tintenpalast, now the seat of government, the Christuskirche, which has become a dominant landmark with its high church tower, and the Alte Feste, a former fort that now houses a museum. Street vendors in colorful clothing sell handicrafts and carvings at the street markets.

You leave Windhoek heading south, driving via Rehoboth and the Tropic of Capricorn. Soon you can see the reddish glow of the Kalahari Desert in the distance. Here, the green acacias and yellow grass stand in stark contrast to the blue sky and the red sand dunes of the Kalahari Desert stretching for hundreds of kilometers. These stretch across 9 different African countries and thus embody the largest and longest sea of sand in the world. On the dunes and in the valleys, also known as "roads", live animals such as springbok, oryx and ostrich as well as jackal, bat-eared fox, springhare and porcupine. Other attractions in this area include the huge nests of the booted weaver in some of the ancient camel thorn trees. Your lodge is located in the middle of the red dunes and stands out like a green oasis from the otherwise red area, which is interrupted from time to time by expanses of clay. From the lodge, you can take part in a variety of activities, including nature tours and beautiful hikes, where you can get to know some of the many animals and plants. In the evening, you can indulge yourself in the restaurant or prepare your own dinner on the fire pit provided.

After a delicious breakfast with a view of the endless expanse of water, continue south to Keetmanshoop, where you can visit the Quiver Tree Forest and the Giants' Playground. After the visit, you can enjoy a light meal in Keetmanshoop, after which you drive to your rustic lodge, where you also set up camp for the night. Your camp is located near the Fish River Canyon. With a length of 170 kilometers, a depth of 550 meters and an average width of 20 kilometers, this natural spectacle embodies the second largest canyon in the world. Marvel at the geology and the plant life that has adapted to this area as you walk along the edge of the canyon and look into its depths.

This morning you take the optional C13 west along the Orange River, crossing the Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park, a nature reserve that stretches across the border into South Africa. Via the mining town of Rosh Pinah, you drive further north into the Succulent Karoo, the world's most biodiverse desert at the southern end of the Namib Desert. Your camp for the night is located between huge granite rock faces on the edge of the high plateau, offering you a breathtaking view of the vast expanses of the Namib Desert. From here you can explore the area on wonderful hikes. Other attractions you can undertake include the Wild Horses of the Namib Desert, and attractions in and around the coastal town of Lüderitz. You can drive there in the early morning of the second day to visit the ghost town of Kolmanskop, the Diaz Cross and also the colonial buildings of Lüderitz, after which you drive back to your overnight accommodation.

Today you drive through the vast expanses of the Namib Desert to the edge of the Namib Naukluft Park, where your accommodation is located on the dry banks of the Tsauchab River. This river ends after another 70 kilometers at Sosusvlei. On a hike, you can explore the impressive mountain landscape or visit a nearby wine farm. In the evening you will be back at your camp, where you can prepare your dinner over an open fire.

Today you drive across vast expanses into the Namib Naukluft Park, which contains large parts of the oldest desert in the world and consists of completely different landscapes: a rolling sea of dunes, seemingly endless gravel plains, petrified dunes, deep gorges and kilometer-high mountain ranges in between. The magnificent sand dune landscape is the result of extreme forces of nature. On the morning of the second day, you can drive to Sossusvlei very early to experience some of the highest dunes in the world at sunrise. Other attractions in the area include the Dead Vlei and the Sesriem Canyon, which consists of a 30-meter deep gorge of the Tsauchab River. Your camp is located directly in the Namib Naukluft Park, allowing you to drive to the 300 meter high dunes an hour before sunrise. This gives you the opportunity to visit this natural paradise undisturbed.

On your drive, the sea of dunes is on your left, on your right you are accompanied by stunning mountain ranges. After a while the land flattens out, where you can visit the Welwitschia areas and the lunar landscape near the coast. Swakopmund is a cozy village on the Atlantic Ocean that will offer you wonderful peace and relaxation over the next two days. On the second day, you can either explore the town at your leisure or take part in various activities in and around Swakopmund. These include desert drives, flying safaris, dolphin boat trips, quad biking and dune slides. Dinner in one of the cozy restaurants within walking distance of your accommodation.

Days 18 & 19:

Etosha National Park, which you will visit over the next three days, is known for its unique game viewing opportunities. It got its name from the huge Etosha salt pan, which makes up a large part of the park. This pan literally shimmers with mirages in the midday heat and also explains the Bushmen's description of the pan as "the place of dry water". You can spend your time on extended game drives in the park. The many waterholes sustain the life of a variety of creatures: 114 different animal species and 340 different bird species have made the 22,270 km² park their home, in addition to a huge number of reptiles, insects and plants, all of which are part of the sensitive ecosystem. With a bit of luck, you will come across strictly protected animals such as the black and white rhino, the beautiful cheetah and leopard as well as the Damara dik-dik - this dainty antelope is Namibia's smallest antelope. Your camp is located within the park and offers you a real "African feeling" with the illuminated waterhole, which you can visit in the evening.

Day 20:

Your journey today takes you through Etosha National Park again. With an area of over 22,000 square kilometers, it is not only one of Africa's largest national parks, but also one of the most species-rich nature reserves in the world. The huge Etosha salt pan, from which the park takes its name, shimmers with phatamorphs and never ceases to fascinate with its endless expanse. We stop again and again at the various waterholes along the pan to wait for the different animal species.
