The Kalahari is a thorn bush savannah, sometimes also a dry savannah, but is occasionally referred to as a desert due to the predominance of sand. It extends on both sides of the Tropic of Capricorn from the South African province of Northern Cape through Namibia and Botswana to Angola and Zambia, covering an area of over one million square kilometers.
Here, creation has let off steam with an incomparable frenzy of colors. The grass of the dune valleys is yellow, the acacias are dark green, the dune crests are a bright orange-red and an infinite blue shines above everything. And when the sun prepares to leave, no shade of the heavenly prism is excluded: this magnificent landscape is home to oryx antelopes, springboks, jackals, bat-eared foxes, ostriches and huge nesting colonies of weaverbirds.
