The Sarova Stanley Hotel in Nairobi was the first luxury hotel in Kenya and was opened in 1902. It takes you back to a bygone era. The cool Victorian elegance, the spacious foyer with marble floors, old clocks and antique photographs will make you forget the heat and hustle and bustle of modern Nairobi.
The hotel's history includes famous overnight guests such as royal families and legends, including the famous writer Ernest Hemingway as well as Hollywood stars and film idols such as Stewart Granger, Clark Gable, Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly and Gregory Peck.
All 217 guest rooms at the Sarova Stanley are elegant and welcoming. There are various categories of rooms, including Heritage Suites, Executive Suites and Club Rooms. Dining options include the legendary Thorn Tree Café, the Thai Chi Restaurant, which has been recognized as one of the most authentic Thai restaurants in East Africa, the Exchange Bar, once home to Nairobi's first stock exchange, and the Pool Deck Restaurant. You can take advantage of 24-hour room service.
For business travelers, Wi-Fi, a fully equipped conference center, meeting rooms with various room capacities and a secretarial service are available. The heated pool on the fifth floor is adjacent to a health area with fitness room and sauna. You can also book massages here. The Sarova Stanley's small shopping arcade includes a souvenir store, newsstand, bookshop, boutique, pharmacy, optician, locksmith, art gallery and car rental services.
