The Maasai Mara is a large and world-famous game reserve in south-western Kenya. The name is derived from the Mara River, which divides the Mara into its eastern and western parts. The magnificent and picturesque savannah grassland between the rolling hills is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Visited annually by around 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebra between the months of June and October. This is where the great migrations between the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and Masai Mara in Kenya take place. The Masai Mara is a permanent home to lions, leopards, cheetahs, black rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, antelopes and around 400 bird species among many others.
Climate
Temperatures average 26°C during the day and 12°C at night. Long rains are expected from mid-April to June and short rains from November to early December.
Location
Sentrim Mara Lodge is situated right next to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, 3 km from Sekenani Gate. The camp is set in tranquil and natural vegetation. The main guest area consists of reception, lounge, restaurant, bar, fireplace, pool bar, jacuzzi and a pool.
Access
The Maasai Mara is about 260 km from Nairobi and the journey time by car is about 4 ½ hours or 40 minutes by small plane. Transfer from the airstrip to the camp approx. 30 minutes.
