Paje is a small fishing village on the east coast of Zanzibar's Unguja Island. The village is known for its excellent kite-boarding conditions. For example, the local reef-protected lagoon has a consistent side-onshore wind that blows for most of the year, which is particularly suitable for beginners. The settlement is located on a beautiful stretch of coastline that offers ideal conditions for swimming in the warm, azure waters at high tide or exploring the coral reef at low tide. Paje has two supermarkets and a number of small stores selling locally produced souvenirs.
