Awash National Park in central Ethiopia is one of the country's most popular parks. This easily accessible park stretches over 700 square kilometers of spectacular volcanic landscape. Visitors can look forward to a variety of natural attractions, such as the stunning Fantale Volcano, at the heart of the park; the magnificent Awash Falls, located on the western edge of the dramatic Awash Gorge; and the local hot springs. Common wildlife sightings include oryx, kudu, gazelles, hartebeest, baboons and monkeys, with rare but possible sightings of lions, leopards, caracals, servals and wild cats, as well as over 300 species of birds. Activities include rafting and bird and animal watching.
