Kinondo Kwetu is a luxury boutique hotel on the glorious white sands of Galu Beach in southern Kenya. Located an hour and a half south of bustling Mombasa, the secluded location means that the beach and adjacent gardens are completely private. After a dip in the sea, you can relax completely in the hotel grounds and two pools, under the shade of giant baobabs and palm trees.

Kinondo Kwetu is considered one of the best small boutique hotels on the Kenyan coast. Kinondo Kwetu is known as a haven for those seeking relaxation and has an excellent reputation for wellness, with a Finnish sauna, spa treatments, a yoga platform and a special meditation spot on a nearby cliff. Activity seekers will find water sports from scuba diving to paddle boarding and tennis courts. Local excursions include the sacred forest of Kaya Kinondo, where a guided walk under the giant trees offers an extraordinary experience - and you can go on safari at the Shimba Hills Reserve, just 45 minutes away. It mixes Scandinavian contemporary design with traditional Kenyan art and textiles. The name means "Our Home at Kinondo" in Swahili, and with its sense of true hospitality, you'll see why Swedish owners Ida and Filip Andersson chose this home.

The hotel is home to 38 guests, 16 rooms, 7 suites in the central Mama Taa Villa and three cottages with en-suite double rooms as well as a Beach House, which has two separate en-suite double rooms (WiFi). The thatched property is decorated with authentic African artifacts using the brightly colored Swahili palette. Kinondo Kwetu is popular with families and friends as well as romantic couples and can be specially configured for larger groups.

Activities

Within the hotel there are two pools, one of which is large enough to accommodate PADI training, as well as a hard tennis court and a yoga platform. Activities include kitesurfing, deep-sea fishing and horseback riding on the hotel's three horses, as well as traditional sailing on a dhow and outriggers.
