The Roha Hotel was originally founded at the time of Emperor Haile Sellasie in 1976. However, the hotel was put into operation in 1992. Until December 25, 2009, it was governed by the state-run Ghion Hotels Enterprise. On December 26, 2009, the operational responsibility of Roha Hotel was transferred to Ayat Share Company.
