Buhoma Haven Lodge
The Buhoma Community Haven Lodge was opened in December 2014. The Buhoma Mukono Community Development Association (BMCDA) has brought together more than 7,000 community members for the benefit of development, improved livelihoods and conservation of natural resources. BMCDA supports local people to find reputable employment and empowers them with the necessary skills to not only guide tourists but also pursue their professional goals. Tourists can support us in our mission by staying at the Buhoma Community Haven Lodge or the Buhoma Community Rest Camp and booking the Buhoma Community Village Walk/Batwa Tour. Proceeds from guests go to BMCDA and are then distributed to local projects. These projects include: Buhoma Community Primary School, Buhoma Community High School, Buhoma Gravity Water Flow Scheme, Rainwater Harvesting, Pineapple and Vegetable Growing Project, Buhoma Cooperative Savings and Credit Society.
The lodge has 2 beautifully designed twin/double houses and 1 family house, all self-contained (en-suite bathrooms) and combines simple elegance with local materials. The property was built with the support of people from America and they thank taxpayers from America and Uganda for helping to change the lives of many. Guests are served menus combining Western and African cuisine, prepared by Ugandan chefs using local produce. A packed lunch is also provided for the gorilla trekking.
