Akagera National Park stretches across a vast plain of low-lying mountains as well as savannah plains and runs along the lakes and wetlands of the Kagera River. Crocodiles and hippos wallow in the park's watery pools, predators prowl through acacia groves and elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes and other animals roam its grassy plains.
